Exploration Idea 1: Wiki Style

  1. Explore style TEXT /style ...and various tables, lists, etc.
  2. Create page with Headings! and create a TOC! (table of contents) using a tag
  3. Explore skins (how the wiki site theme will look via a template)
  4. Explore editors: Classic coding or WYSIWIG

TOOLS for this exploration:

Cheatsheet URL

New Page and Edit Templates

Point and Click vs. Classic Editor (see top right in "edit" mode in your page) in PBWiki

For pmwiki: try the "Sandbox" Note: wiki markup can vary slightly

Exploration Idea 2: Wiki Links

  1. Create a page to another page in the wiki: square bracket a term, WikiWord
  2. Try doing this in Classic AND see WYSIWIG's feature of connecting to existing pages rather than a new page using "link" button feature
  3. When time: Try this with an uploaded image
  4. Create a link to a website on the Internet using a specific URL
  5. Then rename the link name in your wiki to hide a long URL

TOOLS for this exploration:

PBWiki's sample wikis: Use Classic and Point-and-Click Editor (switch at top right during "edit" mode)

An uploaded image

Exploration Idea 3: Embed or Mashup

  1. Explore "plugins" applications with the PMWiki WYSIWIG editor

Possibilities:

Video

Photos

"Google Gadgets"

Calendar

Slideshow

"pbwiki magic"

Chat Room

etc.

  1. Try one of these in a wiki page

TOOLS for this exploration:

PBWiki WYSIWIG editor's "plugins" button and choice menu screen

Content from the Internet OR Created Content, depending on which plugin.

Exploration Idea 4: BROADCAST Variations

Using a public wiki and embedding or mashing up applications from an online community is already a broadcast of sorts, but there are other possibilities:

  1. Explore Widgits
  2. Examples:

Allow users to bookmark your page

Tag your page(s) with keywords

Create an RSS feed

etc.

TOOLS for this exploration:

PBWiki site and "Widgits" link from Collabtechforlibraries wiki
